The week of events in Los Angeles brought together a range of extraordinary activists and community organizers for multiple events.

Dr. Maritza Lozano is committed to the improvement of learning experiences for ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse youth. Her scholarship seeks to disrupt hierarchical systems of education, sharing concrete tools and processes that can be used in the transformation of systems. Lozano brings together learning and participatory design perspectives to examine the systemic nature of educational injustice and leverages the use of Improvement Science methodology to target improvement efforts. Diana Karen Pinacho Lopez is a specialist in journalism and mass communications. She has experience leading NGO communications, public relations and branded content. She has written widely on her Afro-Mexicana identity, centering African ancestry within Mexican history. Read more.

Anna Rose Hopkins is a professionally trained actor (NYU Tisch), interdisciplinary storyteller and chef. Anna Rose found her way into the culinary arts while pursuing work on stage and screen. Anna Rose continues to make work on film and on stage, effectively keeping all burners lit. She is an actor at large in LA, a member of the IAMA Theatre Company, chef and CEO of Hank and Bean, partner in their offshoot HBRD Studio, and Executive Director of LA non-profit Farm2People which she cofounded.
